The people of Uyo Senatorial District have again re-echoed their support
for power rotation to Eket Senatorial District in 2015 as earlier
endorsed during the just concluded town hall meetings in the State.
Reacting
to a recent meeting and publications, purportedly issued by a former
Senator in Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob whom they
described as a 'self-acclaimed leader of one of the local Government
Areas in the Senatorial District', the people who expressed dismay at
his utterances, wondered why the said leader of one of the nine local
government areas of Uyo Senatorial District was championing discordant
tunes after he had attended the Federal Constituency town hall meeting
where he commended the governor for organizing the meeting and also
being part of the decision reached that da on power shift.
In a
statement read by Obong Ekpe Atakpo and endorsed by other leaders in the
district, the Uyo Senatorial District Leaders Form reiterated that the
stand of Uyo Senatorial District people was in accord with those
expressed throughout the State by Ikot Ekpene and Eket
Senatorial
Districts, 'who have all in one voice acclaimed that Eket Senatorial
District should be given the chance to produce the successor to Chief
Godswill Akpabio in 2015.
In an enlarged meeting attended by
leaders, elders, youth leaders and women leadership of the Senatorial
district, the forum disassociated itself from the outcome of a recent
meeting convened at the private residence of the former Senator, Effiong
Bob.
While commending Governor Godswill Akapbio for providing an
opportunity for the entire State in general and Uyo Senatorial District
in particular to freely interact with the Governor and other political
leaders in the State on the 2015 governorship.
The Forum also
resolved that all major political positions in the State must rotate
amongst the three senatorial districts in the State.
This according to the Forum would bring about equity and justice in the State.
The
meeting which held at Monty Suite Uyo was attended by the Special
Adviser, Political and Legislative Affairs, Otuekong Emmanuel Ibiok;
Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Enobong Uwah; Commissioner for
Transport, Prince Godwin Ntukudeh; Special assistant on Security to the
Governor, Captain Iniobong Ekong; House of Assembly members for
Nsit Ibom, Mr. Anietie Etuk; and the political leader of Uyo Federal Constituency, Mr. Uwem Ita Etuk.
Others
include, Sir Val Attah; the Council Chairmen of Uruan and Nsit Atai;
Barr. Comfort Etuk; Dr. Okon Emah; Dr. Usen Ikpe; among others
